Karen Hirst


Karen Hirst started her professional acting career as a member of The Second City Touring Company in Chicago. She had featured roles in : Chutzpah the Musical at the Cowell Theater and New Wrinkles – the Musical at Teatro 450. Karen has appeared with Hoochi-Doo Productions in Marin and Sonoma as: The Evil Stepmother in Into the Woods and Mrs. Winthrop and Lt. Shaw in The Secret Garden. She appeared as Margie McDougall in Promises, Promises at the Spreckles Center for the Performing Arts in Rohnert Park. She most recently appeared in Un-Scripted Theater’s Improvised musical productions of Let it Snow and Theater – the Musical at S.F. Playhouse, Stage 2. In addition to her musical theater work, Karen has appeared at the Magic Theater in The Belle of Belfast City. She was seen as Mrs. Boyle in S.F. Playhouse’s production of Prelude to a Kiss, Mam in Cooking with Elvis at the Phoenix Theater, and  The Mother in How I Learned to Drive. Karen first appeared as “Sunshine” in Not Quite Opera’s original four-person production of Absolutely San Francisco at the Phoenix theater in 2006. When not riding cable cars, Karen teaches Acting and Improvisation full time at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
