Mary Gibboney


Although Ms. Gibboney began her professional career with Chicago’s Second City improvisation group, she has worked as a stage and commercial actress in Northern California for over 30 years. Not Quite Opera discovered Mary in The Berkeley Playhouse’s recent production of Cinderella, where she put in a tour-de-force performance as the Wicked Stepmother. Among her select credits, Mary has apeared in Oliver, and Narnia — also at The Berkeley Playhouse, Smokey Joe’s Café at Bus Barn Theatre, The Importance of Being Earnest at the California Theatre Center, Stage Struck and Spitfire Grill at the California Conservatory Theatre, Thoroughly Modern Millie at Broadway by the Bay, Cabaret at Shotgun Players, and Copenhagen at Town Hall Theatre. Her commercial credits include numerous industrial films and voice-overs for local companies such as Kaiser Permanente, Oracle, Hewlett Packard and Apple Computer. Her film credits include roles in the movies Fearless and The Right Stuff, and she’s had television roles in episodes of Trauma, and Nash Bridges. Ms. Gibboney has taught acting at San Jose State University and Ohlone College in Fremont, CA. She is a board member and occasional actor with the California Theatre Center in Sunnyvale, CA.
